We thought there would be more of an "old town" in Scappoose, but we couldn't really find it.  The town is centered around Highway 30 which cuts through it.

We did stop at the town's "Peace Candle".  Dedicated by dedicated by Governor Tom McCall in 1971 - the candle once held the Guinness World Record, but no longer can claim this lofty title.  It's still a ways up there to the top though.

These graves lie on the east side of Highway 30 cut-off from the main cemetery on the other side.  I guess there is a price to being first.

The J. G. Watt's House on the east side of Highway 30 dates back to 1902.  Over its many years it's served as meeting center, library, city hall and is now a historical museum.
