Siletz was founded in the 1850's and represents a dark period of Oregon's history - the systematic degradation of Native American culture and taking of their land. The Coast Reservation was first founded in 1855 near Siletz with the area eventually becoming the modern day, and yet smaller, Siletz Reservation.
There aren't many businesses in present day Siletz save a gas station, a small market and such. All of the major infrastructure is related to the Reservation - like this administrative building.
